Founded in 2002 by Phoenix-based SmartPractice, the annual SmartScramble golf tournament supports charitable organizations in Phoenix
and surrounding communities. Re-named the Darby SmartScramble in 2018 after Darby acquired the dental supply division of SmartPractice, this year's event

Please be aware that there is a scam being used to obtain personal information from licensees.  Other states are experiencing similar scams.   

Scammers are using a spoof phone number that looks like the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation (OPOR) or the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (DPFR). These scammers are contacting licensees in an effort to get licensees to share personal information.  

The scams are likely to vary but they include telling the licensees that the licensing board or other regulator has opened an investigation and their license has been suspended or revoked.  The scammer then asks the licensee to share or verify personal information over the phone. 

If you receive a suspicious call, you should not share any personal information over the phone or by email.  Licensees who think they may be a victim of a scam or attempted fraud should contact the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General toll-free at 800-436-2131 (TTY 711), or at 207-626-8849, or online at: maine.gov/ag/consumer/complaints/

Darby Dental Supply, one of the nation's largest dental distributors, will donate thousands of supplies to support disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. The powerful hurricane ravaged the Bahamas in late August, leaving a rising death toll and widespread destruction in its wake.

Darby is working alongside the Miami Fire-Rescue Division of Emergency Management to coordinate the delivery of toothbrushes, toothpaste, medical gloves, scrubs, shirts and other dental supplies to impacted areas in the Bahamas. The total donation was enough to fill a 40 foot shipping container.

"We hope this donation will provide much-needed relief to those suffering and impacted by this devastating storm," said Jill Halpin, Vice President of Human Resources, Darby Dental Supply. "A huge thank you to our Account Manager, Fran Reilly, and to those in our Deerfield Beach, Florida office for their help in organizing these relief efforts. Within three days of the disaster, our Florida team quickly banded together to collect enough donations to fill an SUV."

Darby Dental Supply has secured a new 13,845 square foot lease at 600 Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach, positioning the company for continued growth in South Florida.

Relocating east from their existing location in Coral Springs, the new expanded footprint at Hillsboro Center will allow the company to better scale operations and add talent in support of Darby Dental Supply's national growth initiative. With 60 employees currently in South Florida, the firm plans to continue to recruit over the next year and add additional talent to the Deerfield Beach outpost. The Jericho, New York-based company is one of the fastest-growing dental distributors in the United States and currently operates seven regional locations nationwide, including the South Florida lease.

"Our success is largely driven by our sales representatives and customer service specialists who pride themselves on building personalized relationships and understanding the unique needs of our clients," said Kraig Zaharia, Director of Darby Dental Supply's Florida branch. Darby Dental Supply will occupy 13,845 square feet on the second floor, where the firm plans to create a state-of-the-art communications and customer support center with an open floorplan, leaving room to continue expanding its footprint.
